The following tips for sunbed tanning are to help you TAN SAFELY and get the DARKEST TAN POSSIBLE:
-
Look after you skin between sessions
Be sure to moisturize between tanning sessions and showers to keep your skin hydrated. Dry skin resists UV light and is more likely to burn so hydrated skin leads for a quicker absorption of UV light and a greater Tan.
-
Determine your skin cast
Consult a member of staff at your local beauty salon to determine what level your skin can handle a sunbed tanning session. This is to ensure safety and give the best tan possible
-
Remove all forms of makeup and cosmetics
Goes without saying but in order to get a maximum tan from each session, be sure your skin is completely clear for the UV light to penetrate!
-
Always wear a Tanning Cream!
To keep your skin hydrated and replenished throughout the tanning process be sure to always without fail, wear a tanning lotion. To best explain, paint a flat sheet of paper and note the full colouring effect. Now take another sheet of paper and crumble it up and then flatten back out to paint. You don’t actually need to do this exercise to notice there is an obvious difference. This scenario exactly applies to your skin. With the fine ingredients of a tanning cream your skin absorbs UV finely to give the darkest of tans.
-
Always wear eye-protection!
At all times keep your eyes protected from the heat in a sunbed with specialized goggles or eye globes. Never wear regular glasses or contact lenses as the glass heats in the sunbed which is highly dangerous for the eyes.
-
A perfect tan does not happen in one session but needs to be achieved
The perfect dark tan is well worth the wait but it does require several sessions to build even a nice base tan. Rushing the process by having the sunbed at too high a temperature or going too many times a week will be counterproductive with any tan achieved fading fast and in all likelihood you will just look burnt! Initial tanning sessions should be over short periods and built up over time. Consult an expert in your tanning salon for advice on a session plan.
